The "smart home" system is a system that will help to configure the room to operate semi-automatically, to control and rationally spend money, remotely monitor the condition of the home.
The main functions of this system:
automates some routine household chores;
provides security of the house;
saves money, for example, on electricity and heating.
The Smart Home system is able to work in two ways:
With direct human involvement. You need to ask the system to perform a certain action, and you can use your voice, an application on your smartphone, or a remote control (as you feel more comfortable). The user's command goes to the central processor, which "sends" the request to the desired device. For example, you need to turn off the air conditioner. Just say it aloud, or specify the command in the necessary device. Then the command will be sent to the air conditioner via Wi-Fi and it will switch it off.
Involvement of a person is not necessary. The state of the house is controlled by sensors and clocks. For example, the computer decides whether to turn on the heating, guided by the readings of temperature sensors. And if, in your absence, motion sensors register something, an alarm will go off.
The whole system is controlled by cameras and various sensors (temperature, motion, smoke, water leakage, gas leakage, etc), heating mode, "smart" outlets, modules control curtains.
For example, there are such devices:
smart air freshener, which is controlled by voice or works according to a specially set schedule;
smart shower, which has two points of water supply: a watering can and a shower, simulating rain. You can set the source you want, as well as program the water temperature that is comfortable for you and all family members.
So the Smart Home system includes three important elements:
sensors that pick up signals and information;
a central processor that processes all these signals;
executing devices, which execute the User's commands.
If you want to install this system in your home, it is best to lay down the smart functions while still renovating or building. At the design stage, each electrical device is wired with an Internet cable. All these wires are also connected to the controller (the very processor that processes all the commands).
However, today there is a simpler option — to control systems using Wi-Fi, and as soon as a new compatible device appears in the house, it is immediately added to the system controller.
It is also possible to do without a central processor, but then you would have to install a lot of different applications on the phone, controlling different devices.
When there are a lot of smart devices in the apartment, it makes sense to install a controller that understands signals from all these devices. Such a command device allows you to control all your systems with one program — it is already a full-fledged Smart House.
