Carpeting in the interior: pros and cons

Carpeting allows you to walk comfortably barefoot, it warms up the interior, both literally and figuratively. But for some people it remains a dust collector, which is actually not far from the truth. Let's deal in detail with the pros and cons of the carpet in the interior.

Carpeting is not very accustomed in Ukrainian homes. Domestic buyers prefer the more practical, from his point of view, variant of coverage: the one that is laid "for life" and does not require a thorough cleaning. But in western interiors carpeting is quite common, as this option has many advantages.

Carpeting is perfect for any style design. Color, pattern, pile length and material can be selected for any interior: from classic to high-tech. Do not think that carpeting completely excludes the presence of the carpet. A popular solution in American interiors is the "puff-pastry" effect, when the carpet is placed on top of the carpet.

What about the practical benefits of carpeting? Carpet has thermal insulation properties and is an excellent noise absorber, so it is an excellent choice for rooms that need a warm floor and extra sound insulation: children's rooms and bedrooms. It is pleasant to walk barefoot on such a coating, as it retains heat well. If you need to cover an old floor without too much expense, carpeting will do an excellent job.

But, as you understand, such a coating has its own disadvantages. If you walk on the carpeting in dirty shoes, then you will have to pay for it with long hours of cleaning. Dirt and carpeting — things incompatible. But the solution to this dilemma is very simple: do not use carpeting in the "dirty areas," such as the hallway.

But the case with dust is more complicated. A shaggy surface tends to hold dust, which can contribute to allergies. Due to the electrostatic properties of the carpet literally attracts dust. This problem can be solved with regular cleaning and washing vacuum cleaner. But also the property of carpeting to attract dust has one positive point: it does not allow the dust to spread too high, whereas in rooms with smooth flooring dust can rise to human height.

A floor completely covered with carpet is not the best choice if there are animals in the house. A lot of hair will settle on the covering, which is difficult to clean up. Do you need carpeting in the house, where there are children — no definite answer. On the one hand — there will be a risk of frequent contamination, and to clean the carpet is much harder than wiping the floor. But on the other hand — a carpet absorbs loud footsteps perfectly, keeps your feet warm and, in case of something, can soften the fall.

And to finally understand whether you need this covering in the house or not, let's still consider the varieties of carpeting and their advantages.

Natural carpeting, the composition of which is dominated by wool, is characterized by elasticity, high water resistance and environmental friendliness. But it wears out much faster than the synthetic "representatives", although it costs more.

Synthetic carpeting is quite wear-resistant and more resistant to dirt than woolen versions.

The most practical model of pile covering — carpet tiles. It gives easy access to communications and, if necessary, fragments of this coating can be easily replaced in places of wear and tear. At the same time the seams of the tiles will be almost invisible.

When buying carpeting you should also pay attention to the length of pile. The lower it is, the easier it is to clean the surface. High pile is mostly used in bedrooms, where warmth and tactile sensations are especially important.

As you can see, there are enough advantages and disadvantages in a carpet, so now the choice is up to you.
