Carpet in the bedroom interior

The carpet has become an indispensable element of the modern bedroom interior. After all, agree, in the morning it is nice to feel the soft nap under your bare feet. Therefore, in this article we will tell in detail about the different types of carpets and what you should pay attention to when buying.

Material

The material is one of the most important criteria for choosing a floor covering. Usually, preferences are given to natural materials — silk, wool, viscose. However, modern synthetics has become so high-tech that carpets made of it are not inferior to natural ones in comfort, aesthetics and durability.

Silk is a durable, but at the same time delicate fabric. Among the advantages of such a carpet: it is soft, durable and pleasant to the skin. But there are also disadvantages - the fabric creases rather quickly, burns out and sheds.

Wool — such a carpet is highly resistant to moisture and noise absorption effect. It is resistant to burnout, durable and will serve you for many years. Disadvantages — it is afraid of moths and is prone to the accumulation of electric charges.

Cotton — hypoallergenic, pleasant to the touch and easy to clean material. Disadvantages — it crumples quickly and is prone to shrinkage.

Viscose combines the best qualities of synthetic and natural materials. Visually, it resembles silk and has a durable pattern and color. The disadvantage is that it quickly absorbs moisture.

Acrylic is a light, soft material that retains its appearance for a long time. It does not burn out or crumple at all, it is easy to clean. Minus — it is easily electrified.

Polyester is a popular material today, something like wool. It does not accumulate charges, it burns out slowly, it is not afraid of mold and dirt.

Polypropylene is very similar in style to natural materials. It retains its original shape for a long time and is easy to wash, and it is also hypoallergenic.

Texture

The optimal texture of the carpet in the bedroom should be determined by the pile. It comes in:

  • looped (made in the form of small or large loops. Such coverage is quite hard-wearing, but it is better suited for pass-through rooms rather than for the bedroom);

  • cut (trimmed or cut at the top of the pile. The product is not highly resistant, but it looks aesthetically pleasing).

Products can be one-tier (a pile of one height) and combined (there are areas with both cut and looped texture).

Carpets with cut fibers depending on the length and twist are:

  • velour (pile of one length with a low cut);

  • scroll (trimmed looped pile, wear-resistant);

  • saxony (a long thermally fixed pile with a strong twist).

Another important indicator, which is worth paying attention — the density of the product. It depends on the height and thickness of the fibers and the number of knots. The more knots, the more exquisite the pattern, and the harder the carpet is to care for. A rug with a low density (up to 100 thousand knots) will do for a bedroom, but the most widespread version is from 250 to 350 thousand.

Shape and size

For the bedroom usually choose a rectangular or square shape. The aspect ratio is determined according to the "golden ratio" principle — 1 to 0.62. If the bed is irregularly shaped, it is better to lay a round or asymmetric rug on the floor.

The size of the floor covering depends on the size of the bedroom. Standard sizes are from 1.2x1.8 m to 2.7x3.6 m.

In a large room, a carpet that almost reaches the walls is usually laid. If the doors open inwards, the distance from the edge of the carpet to the doorway should be at least half a meter. To zoning the room, you can put a few small products, separating the area of the bed, closet and dressing table. In a small room, a rug under the bed, protruding beyond its limits by about 50 cm will look great.

Carpet in the interior

When buying a carpet, you need to take into account the overall style of the interior:

  • minimalism — a pastel product of medium size, regular geometric shape;

  • provence — the product, executed in light shades, complete with a small vegetable prints;

  • classic — a big light rug with arabesques;

  • scandinavian — a fluffy pastel rug in the style of a skin;

  • loft — artificially aged carpet in dark colors;

  • eco — carpet made of natural materials in natural colors.

The most popular tones in the color palette of the bedroom are gray, beige, white and brown. The most universal option will be gray-brown carpeting — it is universal for almost all interiors. Bright shades activate brain activity, interfere with rest and sleep. But even among them there are exceptions: you can choose a shade of spring sky, fresh greenery or a blooming rose.

The color of the product must match the color of the furniture. But it is better that it does not coincide completely — it is desirable that they differ if not in color, then at least in patterns, textures or shades. Coloring can adjust the shape and space of the room. Light and neutral shades visually expand the space, dark and bright, in turn, the room reduce.

Choosing the right flooring for the bedroom, you will make the room aesthetic and cozy, while spending a minimum of effort and money.
